2021, multimedia
Pandemic Portraits is an arts outreach project created in response to the rise in Anti-Asian hate and as a way to process the pandemic of 2020-2021. During two sessions, I live-drew portraits. Participants chose what they wanted me to draw underneath their masks. To expand the project’s reach, I created a free lesson plan for anyone to draw their own pandemic portraits. I shared the lesson plan via social media and at a live maker table in the Govans community of Baltimore, MD. The project has resulted in 50 portraits, and $1,215 donated to charities that are fighting against anti-Asian hate.
